Suwannee River Wilderness Paddling Trail

"Thank you for the great week - it was very relaxing to have everything taken care of.  Sometimes vacations can be stress producing themselves; decisions about directions, lodging, meals, activities, etc.  But last week was great and the wonderful weather was such a bonus.  We couldn't be happier with our decision to take that trip with you."
Sherri Lloyd - Pawling, NY
Suwannee River Wilderness Trail
2013 Dates: February 11-16
$895 per person

The 170 mile Suwannee River Wilderness Trail begins in White Springs, FL. Here you will find the upper Suwannee narrow and flowing through towering pines and stately cypress that line the river banks and high bluffs. The slow current makes it ideal for beginners to get down the river without having to exhaust themselves.

The middle stretch from Suwannee River State Park to the town of Branford is spring country. The river widens, with numerous springs an small shoals adding to its character. On hot days, spring hopping is a popular pastime for paddlers and boaters who stop to enjoy a cool dip in the clear spring waters.

Camping along the Suwannee is in the new river camps that the state of Florida is building. These river camps are hardly camping to some! They have screened in sleeping rooms, complete with a light and ceiling fan. Other amenities include bath houses with flush toilets, hot showers, picnic tables, electric outlets and running water, right next to your campsite! This is a great introduction to camping without needed to "rough it."

Day 1 - Run the shuttle early in the morning, pack boats, and paddle to Woods Ferry River Camp (13 miles)
Day 2 - Paddle to Holton Creek River Camp (18.4 miles)
Day 3 - Paddle to Dowling Park River Camp (27.9 miles)
Day 4 - Paddle to Peacock Slough River Camp (17.2 miles)
Day 5 - Layover for one day, or paddle to Adams Tract River Camp (10.3 miles if we paddle)
Day 6 - Paddle to Ivey Memorial Park in Branford and take out. If we paddled the day before it will be 9.5 miles, if not it will be 19.8 miles.

Basic paddling and safety instruction will be reviewed at the beginning of the trip. You should be in good health and accustomed to regular exercise. The cost of the trip includes all equipment (kayak and paddling accessories), local transportation (as needed), and all on-water meals. Not included in the cost is air or land transportation to the White Springs, Florida area, lodging before or after the trip, any meals not previously mentioned, alcoholic beverages, gratuities for the guides, or medical expenses due to injury or illness. You will need to provide your own sleeping bag and pad.

There is a minimum number of participants required to confirm this tour. Therefore please do not make any travel arrangements (airline flights, train) until you have received confirmation from us that the trip has fully booked. A 50% deposit is due at time of reservation, with payment in full due 60 days prior to the trip’s start date. Email us or call (315) 335-1681 to reserve your spot.
