$1195 per person, double occupancy (all taxes included)

If you have ever wanted to get intensive kayak instruction in a beautiful, warm setting, this is the trip for you! Cedar Key, Florida is located in the big bend region of Florida’s nature coast and offers a little bit of everything for all paddlers.

The week consists of daily instruction in the morning, either on the water or in a “classroom” setting, and the afternoons are spent practicing what we have learned. Some of the topics that are covered include safety, equipment, boat fit/adjustment, launching/landing, wet exits, introduction to basic strokes and skills, rescues, weather, wind, wave dynamics, tides, and currents. There are no prerequisites for this trip; it is designed to provide beginners with a safe and enjoyable introduction to the sport of coastal kayaking.

We meet on the first night in the quiet town of Cedar Key, which is our “base camp” for the week. Your home away from home is a waterside cabin with all the necessary amenities including cooking facilities. There are also several restaurants within a short walking distance of your cabin.

Kayaking is an activity that any reasonably fit person can enjoy. You should be in good health and accustomed to regular exercise. The cost of the trip includes kayak, paddling accessories, lodging, local transportation, lunches, and two dinners. Not included in the cost is air or land transportation to Cedar Key, Florida, any meals not previously mentioned, alcoholic beverages, gratuities for the instructors, or medical expenses due to injury or illness.

There is a minimum number of participants required to confirm this class. Ocracoke Island, located in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, is our base for this week of intensive kayak instruction.
