Frequently Asked Questions - Fishing

If you don't find answers to your questions here on this page, please feel free to contact us!

Do I need a license?  If you are over the age of 16 you will need a license.  They can be obtained locally or contact us for a place to stop on your way.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?  No, we will provide equipment (except waders).  However, if you have a favorite rod, fly or lure, feel free to bring it along.

What kind of fish will I catch?  That all depends on the trip you choose.  But for the most part if you’re river fishing you’ll be catching trout and smallmouth bass.  If you’re fishing lakes, ponds or stillwaters you’ll be catching largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, trout, pickerel or walleye.

When is the best time to come?  Depending on what you want to catch, that can vary. If you’re a fly fisherman, late May into June can’t be beat.  But you will need to deal with the official Adirondack pest known as the black fly.  Summer is better for bass fishing but some years the trout fishing can be very good.  It all depends on rainfall and water temperatures.  Feel free to contact us if you have further questions.

How many can you take?  Our ideal group size is 2.  With 2 fishermen we can effectively fish a river without spooking too many fish and we can also do a canoe trip.

Can I keep fish for dinner?  Absolutely!  As long as they are legal you can keep what you catch.

Will you clean our fish?  We are more than happy to clean your fish.
